Short Bio |

|
I finished my B.Sc. in Computer Science in spring 2000. From January 2000 to May 2009 I worked in industry, mostly in the financial sector. During this time I worked as a software developer, DB specialist, team leader, solution architect and business analyst. I worked on multi man year projects, some with multiple groups of developers, using both homebrew and agile (test-driven development and scrum) methodologies. I have designed, and implemented, both object oriented, REST and SOA solutions. As the lead developer in Landsbankinn's business-to-bank solution, I designed the interface (XML Schema) that was adopted by all Icelandic banks and is still in use. Most of my work in industry was done using C++, C#, Oracle and PL/SQL. In fall 2009 I started working on my masters degree and graduated in spring 2011. My masters thesis, the product of twelve months of work and 40K lines of C++, was on multidimensional analysis applied to multimedia objects. During this time I both worked as a TA and student project supervisor. A time-table solver I and a fellow student wrote as a final project in an AI course has subsequently been sold to industry. After graduating I have continued my research into multi-dimensional analysis for multi-media objects and I am currently working as an associate lecturer at Reykjavík University. My research interests include multi-media databases (images, text, video, music, ...), optimizations, high performance computing and software architecture. | |
